We’ve got a short-but-sweet preview today: an upgraded undead form of the classic gargoyle monster called the dread gargoyle, whose statistics reference both the gargoyles from the Dark Souls series as well as those from the animated television show Gargoyles. As it turns out, the variant options for the dread gargoyle (weapon-tail and flame breath) don’t end up altering its challenge rating based on the normal CR calculation rules. However, to help balance out the slight increase in power that they grant, these variants each also have an accompanying flaw.
